There isn’t much worse than a doctor who diagnoses a problem, then goes on to prescribe a remedy which makes the ailment substantially worse.
In a nutshell, this describes the key problem with the American Left and the Democrat Party.
Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders understand that the income gap is growing, yet they believe redistributing wealth is the cure. Hillary Clinton gets that college tuition is way too expensive, but puts out a plan that will only make education more expensive. Barack Obama’s concern over healthcare prices netted us Obamacare, along with its tax increases, mandates, and astronomical regulatory costs.
Taxes, subsidies, government programs, wealth redistribution, and central economic planning are not the answer to America’s ills. In fact, the growth of big government has placed significant hurdles in the way of job creation, reducing poverty, lowering the cost of healthcare, and improving education. The growth of government has also come at the expense of the most important driver of innovation and improvement to our nation — the individual.
America was founded on the belief that free men are more capable of understanding and caring for their own interests than distant bureaucrats and politicians. For this reason, government’s size and power should be limited, balanced, and separated in order to ensure that it is able to adequately protect the individual from threats foreign and domestic. Call it Conservatism, call it the American way. When government exists solely to protect the rights of the individual, men are freer, the pursuit of happiness is greater, and all lives are defended with equal protection.
Conservative Force was founded to provide a second opinion on the alleged cures that the doctors of progressivism have to offer. As C.S. Lewis once said:
“We all want progress. But progress means getting nearer to the place where you want to be. And if you have taken a wrong turning, then to go forward does not get you any nearer. If you are on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; and in that case the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive man.”
This website is dedicated to promoting free markets, natural rights, constitutional government, and individual liberty. With a return to these basic principles, America will be the Shining City on the Hill that our founders knew it could be.
One of the very few things I missed about Facebook when I quit visiting it was your commentary and perspective. I happened to stumble into my Facebook newsfeed and saw this post. What luck!
